Harvey's Seatbelt Bags, based in Orange County, California, was founded by husband and wife team Dana and Melanie Harvey.

In 1997, whilst restoring their 1950 Buick, Dana Harvey had the original idea of using the remainder of a roll of seatbelt he'd been installing to make his wife a handbag. Raised in New Zealand, his Polynesian grandmother had taught him to weave baskets from flax, and there lies the creative influence of The Seatbelt Bag!

When Melanie's friends saw the bag, they wanted one too and so the business began in a garage in California, it has since outgrown that space! Now the line can be found in more than 700 department stores and boutiques throughout the USA, with big followings in Europe and Japan!

Britney Spears and Jessica Alba wear the bags. Robert Downey Jr. special ordered a whole bunch for gifts and the Japanese rock band Fly 812 use the bags as stage props!

Each bag is lovingly built in the USA to exact specifications and guaranteed to be tough, as well as stylish!
